Pinecrest Terrace

Pinecrest Terrace is a state-of-the-art facility for those with Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders.  A spacious, sunny area, the Terrace incorporates the latest amenities and resources for those coping with memory related disorders, including attractive memory boxes outside each private room, closets that ease dressing and personal care, and an enclosed garden for strolling or relaxing.  Activities and programs emphasize what residents are sColor Me a Memory programtill able to do, rather than focusing on skills that have diminished. Recently, Pinecrest launched a grant-funded art communication program, "Color Me a Memory," in which Terrace residents, under the direction of trained volunteers and staff, use watercolor painting to help residents recall memories from their past. One resident, for instance, painted a purse and a pair of shoes, but added much yellow to her painting, saying her deceased husband's favorite color was yellow. Another painter used lavender daisies as a model for her art, but painted her flowers as orange-colored zinnias. She explained that she grew zinnias in her garden as a young woman.
