Pinecrest Pathways

pinecrest pathAt Pinecrest, a variety of visions and programs have been implemented in the past several years to upgrade existing services, programs, and equipment.

“Pinecrest Pathways” is an overall health-related visionary program we have implemented that includes upgrading programs and services to our residents dedicated to improving their health and the health and well-being of their caregivers and fulfilling Pinecrest’s mission to provide quality health services with respect, dignity and security for the whole person.

Pinecrest Pathways – Beds Program

The recent phase of Pathways, now finished, involved funding specialized multi-position motorized beds that allow our elderly, sick and rehabbing residents the ability to free themselves from the limitations of waiting for assistance in order just to sit up, or become mobile to use the restroom, or go for a walk. Thanks go our generous donors and several major local foundations, Pinecrest now has all new beds (except for a few that residents who use them wanted to keep).

The Pinecrest Pathways program gathered and expended funds sufficient to replace more than 100 beds.

The state-of-the-art beds aid us in fulfilling the goal of providing quality care that will significantly promote dignity, security and respect to the whole person by facilitating the ability of the recovering resident to mobilize themselves rather than requiring assistance for even the smallest of needs, such as rising to use the bathroom.

We believe the dignity of the residents, which is one of our mission goals is elevated to a much higher standard by giving residents as much freedom as possible. The new beds accomplish that goal.

Studies have also shown that these KINDS of beds – which raise high for the nursing staff – reduce potential injury to staff (back strain from lifting patients), another major benefit.

Pinecrest is a top-rated nursing home (five stars in May 2012), and we believe that the addition of these beds will help our community in many ways.
